New York, NY and Stowe, VT (May 24, 2016) – Stowe Story Labs and Tangerine Entertainment are pleased to offer the second annual Tangerine Fellowship for an Outstanding Female Screenwriter. The year-long fellowship includes full tuition for the September 2016 Stowe Story Labs Narrative Workshop and the 2017 Spring Writers’ Retreat, mentoring from the Tangerine Entertainment team, and other benefits, including a copy of Final Draft 9. The goal of the fellowship is to advance the project and career of a talented female writer.
The Fourth Annual Stowe Story Labs Narrative Workshop will take place September 10 - 13, 2016, at the Helen Day Art Center in Stowe, Vermont. The Labs bring talented emerging screenwriters from around the world together with top industry professionals to focus on story, production and packaging of their independent feature films and television projects for a commercial audience.
The announcement of the 2016/2017 Fellowship comes on the heels of another successful 5-day May Writers’ Retreat. Participant, Diana Richardson said, “The Stowe Story Labs Writers’ Retreat offers an incredible environment to work on projects, receive invaluable mentor interaction and feedback, and most importantly, build long lasting friendships.”
In addition to the team from Tangerine (Amy Hobby, Anne Hubbell and Elizabeth Kaiden), mentors at this spring’s retreat included award winning screenwriter Austin Chick (XX/YY, August), award winning casting director Ellen Parks (Secretary, Sideways), Parts & Labor development executive Lauren Haber (Adventureland, Beginners, The Messenger), award winning creative and executive producer Paul Miller (Lone Star, The Secret of Roan Inish, Snow Angels) and producer and production counsel Jonathan Gray (Station Agent, Precious, Birth of a Nation).
“We are pleased to expand our work with Stowe Story Labs and offer this important opportunity to emerging women writers,” said Tangerine partner and creative producer Anne Hubbell. “The Labs and Retreat help emerging screenwriters hone their craft and develop skills critical to succeeding in the industry,” said Hubbell. “And it’s fun as hell.”

“I cannot say enough how much we love partnering with Tangerine,” said David Rocchio, founder and president of Stowe Story Labs. “As mentors, the Tangerine team brings so much experience, wisdom and intelligence to the hard work of getting films made. They also are able to communicate their ideas thoughtfully to Lab participants. It is not lost on us they also get tremendous films made and seen. They are a perfect fit for the Stowe Story Labs community and help us achieve our vision. We hope and expect the Labs will help them make their dent in the universe as well,” said Rocchio.
The 2015 Tangerine Fellow Jodi Gibson said, "I came away from the Labs with a solid pitch and a plan for packaging my project with next steps. I made friends and met – I hope – future collaborators for a lifetime. Thank you." For more testimonials about Stowe Story Labs please click here.
