Ella Johns is an actor and playwright originally from Birmingham, Alabama. Her most notable production was for the Junior League of Alabama, where she wrote and produced a play about the sex trafficking super highway that leads from Birmingham, AL to Atlanta, GA. This play was performed and was instrumental in convincing 31 municipalities to join the fight against human trafficking. After high school she went on to join the BFA Acting program at Syracuse University where, so far, she has acted in Failure: a Love Story directed by Thom Miller and assistant directed H*llo K*tty Syndrome. In the coming year, she looks forward to joining the cast of Murder at the Orient Express at Syracuse Stage directed by Bob Hupp. Also, in 2022, her first movie The Skeleton’s Compass premiered on Apple TV!

Ella’s plays have been read and performed at both the Alabama School of Fine Arts and Syracuse University. Many of her plays explore the lesbian experience, specifically in the south and her play my lover and mary jane was recently published in the 14th issue of Fleas on the Dog, an online publishing company. She was also named a 2023 finalist for the Sidewalk Film Festival’s Sidewrite Competition for her screenplay Beautiful Things.

Just recently, Ella completed a semester-long study abroad program where she studied classical theatre at Shakespeare’s Globe. When she’s not flying all over the world, she can be found back at her farm in Alabama playing with her two dogs, two cats, and five alpacas.

She remains excited and passionate about her work with Stowe Story Labs in the coming year and cannot wait to work with such an incredible team.
