Hana Jusic

Hana Jusic was born in 1983 in Sibenik. She studied Comparative literature and the English language and literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. She graduated in 2007 and enrolled in the Postgraduate Studies of Literature, Culture, Performative Arts and Film at the same faculty. In 2006 she enrolled in the BA Studies of Film and TV Directing at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb and in 2010 the MA studies at the same academy. She is a tenured associate professor at the Department of Film Directing the Academy of Dramatic Art. 

 She has written and directed several short and documentary films that were awarded at festivals in Croatia and shown internationally; her short “The Chill” was shown in Oberhausen in 2012, and “No Wolf Has A House” in Rotterdam in 2015. She wrote scripts for 2 feature films for children, “The Mysterious Boy” directed by Drazen Zarkovic in 2013 and “The Mystery of Green Hill” by Cejen Cernic in 2017. In 2016, she wrote and directed her feature film debut “Ne gledaj mi u pijat / Quit staring at my Plate”. It premiered at Venice Days and was awarded 30 film awards later. In 2021 she has also co-written “The Last Socialist Artifact” (directed by Dalibor Matanic), a very successful mini-series shown at Series Mania and many other festivals. She also co-wrote the first season of the Croatian version of SKAM in 2023.  Her second feature “God Will Not Help” premiered in Locarno in 2025 where it got Pardo d’Oro for best performance.
