CIARA APPELBE JOINS STOWE STORY LABS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Ciara Appelbe

Stowe Story Labs is pleased to announce that Irish Creative Producer and Head of Development at O’Sullivan Productions Ciara Appelbe has joined its Board of Directors.

Based in Ireland, Ciara Appelbe is a creative producer and head of development with over 30 years of experience in the film and television industries. Since 2006, Ciara has worked for World 2000 Entertainment, the company responsible for THE TUDORS (Showtime) and VIKINGS: VAHALLA (MGM). Ciara now as well heads up development at O’Sullivan Productions, nurturing an exciting slate of projects and emerging writers and filmmakers.

O’Sullivan Productions is an iconic film and television studio in Ireland. Dedicated to developing talent and announcing it to the wider world, the studio attracts international productions to Ireland. Irish cast, crews, writers, and directors have developed their skills to world-class levels and been recognized internationally with Emmys and BAFTAs. The O’Sullivan sisters Auveen Lush and Ciara Appelbe, along with Producer Jane McNally, are currently in development on several independent features, documentaries, and TV shows.

Stowe Story Labs and Ciara have worked together extensively since Stowe’s first Connemara Writers’ Retreat, set in Renvyle, Ireland, where Ciara mentored participants, gave script notes on projects, and participated in panel discussion. She has since mentored with Stowe extensively at programs in the US and Ireland. The Retreat, made in partnership with the Galway Film Fleadh and Screen Ireland, invites twenty screenwriters annually to participate in a five-day Retreat. As Stowe and Ciara have partnered more and more, it was a natural next step for her to join the Board.

“I am honored to join Stowe’s board,” said Appelbe. “The team at Stowe does outstanding work to help artists find and refine their voice, and they choose wonderful artists and mentors to nurture the art,” she said.

“Ciara has built a career nurturing artists and it is a joy to see how she builds teams and relationships,” said Stowe Story Labs Founder and Director, David Rocchio. “She is a natural at the work, and we are honored to have her now on the Board,” he said.

With Ciara’s addition, Stowe’s Board of Directors has ten members, each serving three-year, renewable terms. The roster of current members can be seen here.

Now in its twelfth year, Stowe Story Labs is a Vermont-based, US nonprofit dedicated to helping screenwriters, filmmakers, and creative producers develop skills and projects to get work made and seen. They do this work through labs, retreats, one-on-one mentoring, workshops, longform online writing programs, and funded production grants. Learn more at www.stowestorylabs.org
